Downtown Mural Project
The downtown mural project started out of a concept of integrating art with historic preservation.
A Vision Carthage committee began meeting to dream about what we could create and approached internationally known local artist, Andy Thomas, to discuss various ideas.
Andy agreed to take on the project and created an initial design of showcasing some of our most famous citizens who came from our small-town roots.
The group loved it and located a mural expert, Paul Whitehill, of Whitehill Enterprises. Paul had worked with Andy before and explained the process of utilizing tiles instead of painting directly on the building.
We're now working to get the building prepped and ready! The project will be 44' long by 29' tall.
We are currently in the process of raising money for this project and hope to have it completed by the fall of 2021. If you would like to contribute, your entire donation will be directly applied to the Mural Project!
